Home to over 100,000 people, the county town of Exeter resides amid the beautiful rolling Devon countryside, straddling the river Exe and a stone's throw from the south coast.
Situated near the border with Cornwall, this is a haven for visitors with its unspoiled beaches and miles of spectacular cliff-walks.
The city itself is dominated by Exeter Cathedral, an 11th century church of magnificent construction, and the ruins of a local Norman Castle (soon to be restored for tourists to visit) also offer historical interest in conjunction with their adjoining gardens - the oldest of their type in the country.
One of the city's lesser-known residents is the Met Office - where all weather forecasters worth their salt go to get the most accurate, up-to-date meteorological information - and this provides significant employment in the area.
